
Reviewing the Schuberth E2 Motorcycle Helmet after 50 Hours

This is my 50‑hour review of my brand‑new Schuberth E2 helmet. If you really want to know how I feel—and you don’t want to wait till the end—I love this helmet. But stick around; I’ll tell you why the E2, which replaced my E1, has not disappointed.

A Helmet History: Why the E2 Matters
I’ve had about 17 helmets in my life—though Caroline thinks it’s more. Over the years, I’ve tried just about every major brand except for two: AGV and Arai. I’ve never owned an AGV because, well, I don’t spend a lot of time riding at 185 miles per hour. And I’ve stayed away from Arai because of my good friend Ewan McGregor—we don’t want to mix up our helmets when we’re out riding!
So I’ve stuck with the Schuberth brand. And I keep coming back to them for a reason—they fit me well, they’re built right, and every new version just seems to improve on the last. The E2, which replaces my older E1, came highly anticipated, and I was excited to try it out because of the updated features and redesign.

Comfort: Feels Like Home
Comfort? Exceptional. I feel zero pressure points—cheeks, crown, even with the SC2 comm installed. Unlike some helmets where chin-bar pressure presses into your jaw, the E2 supports my chin smoothly—no mouth fatigue when talking while riding.
One thing I like is that this helmet is designed to fit what they call “universal heads”—basically the most common head shapes—and it fits this common head just great.

It truly fits like a glove.
Ventilation: Cooler Than I Expected
This helmet has the best ventilation I’ve ever experienced. Hands down. It’s got adjustable vents on the chin, the top, and the front—everything you’d expect—but it also gives you the ability to really seal things off if you need to. There’s a small interior seal built in, and if you open up the helmet and take a look, you’ll see you can shut down the airflow internally—not just with the outside switches.

I’ve actually had to close the vents on cooler days—there’s that much airflow. Most helmets struggle to breathe; this one moves air so well, it can get chilly.
What’s even more surprising is how quiet it is. Helmets with great ventilation are usually noisy—but not the E2. Even with vents open, it’s smooth and silent.
And when you combine that kind of airflow with that kind of quiet? You’ve got something special.
Quiet Where It Counts
I had both the front and top vents wide open, and still—no wind noise. That’s usually unheard of. With most helmets, more airflow means more roar in your ears. But not with the E2. Whether I wear earplugs or not, I can still hear Caroline clearly through the comms. It’s that quiet.
Now, my new bike—the G310—doesn’t have a windshield, so I expected some buffeting. And yeah, there’s a bit more compared to my 1250, which has a factory windscreen. But even then, the helmet handled it well. No harsh turbulence, no shaking—just a slight change in airflow that I’ve learned to adjust to with my riding posture.

So between the ventilation, the aerodynamic shape, and the sound isolation, the E2 delivers a surprisingly quiet ride—even in conditions that usually challenge helmets.
Visor & Optics: Pinlock Clarity
I’ve been using that pin‑lock visor constantly—it’s chilling cold and the optics stay crystal clear. No distortion, no fogging. Crisp vision in every condition so far.
Integrated Communications: Sena SC2 Mesh Works Wonders
One of the things we really liked about the E2 was the ability to integrate the SC2 comm system—and I’m glad we went with it. It fits right into the helmet, no messy wires or bulky parts sticking out.

Turning it on is easy: just hold the main button for two seconds and you’re in. Tap the top button on the remote, and you’re linked. Pairing with another helmet? Hold the bottom button for five seconds. Want to use mesh mode? Just hold that button and it connects to your group.
We’ve used it on several rides now, and it’s been simple, clear, and reliable—exactly what you’d want in a comms system.
Battery Life: Rock Solid
I want to talk a bit more about how the SC2 held up on a long ride. We had one day where I had the helmet on my head for a full 11 hours. I turned the SC2 unit on at the start of the day and never had to think about it again. It just worked.
There were no alerts saying the battery was dying, no lost connection, and we didn’t break communication once—even while riding through the River Canyon. If you’ve ever been in terrain like that, you know how hard it is to maintain line of sight or signal. But with this system, we stayed connected the whole way through.

That 11-hour day was probably the longest I’d want to ride with any helmet on. And knowing the comms didn’t flinch during that time makes me feel even better about relying on this system for extended rides. I can’t tell you how long it’ll last beyond that, but for me, 11 solid hours of continuous performance is more than enough.
FM Radio and Smart Pairing
The SC2 system built into the E2 helmet includes an FM radio and supports pairing with your smartphone. It works with both Android and iPhone, letting you use Google Assistant or Siri if needed.
That said, we haven’t really used those features much—Caroline and I just enjoy each other’s company out on the road. But it’s nice to know the options are there if we ever want them.
Final Verdict: A Well-Rounded Upgrade
After 50 hours in the saddle, across varied weather and terrain, the E2 has earned my trust—and my ride sense—on every front. From comfort to clarity, communication, quiet, and style, it’s everything I hoped for and more.
